We were priveleged to have some of NZ's top Olympic rowers attend our Christmas at the races meeting in 2014. And it was great to see that their syndicate had their first win with the aptly named Aotearower at Te Rapa on 14 March 2015. Winning trainer Ken was also happy that t he three year old Shamardal filly Aotearower broke her maiden status for the illustrious group of owners. Racing in the famous Cambridge Stud colours of Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan who are involved in an ownership syndicate that includes some of the elite of New Zealand rowing in Hamish Murray, Eric Bond, Mahe Drysdale, Joseph Sullivan and Nathan Cohen.
She deserved that win as she has been beaten into second by some fairly handy horses but today was her day, said Kelso. Phil joined the team in August 2012 from Hawkes Bay Racing where he had worked for several years on their busy track.
His family have been involved in racing for some time and Phil continues on the love of the game. Anita is our istrator who was new to the horse world when she started but is learning and loving plenty about racing.
